The 2007 April Fools' Event (エイプリルフールまとめ Eipuriru fūru matome?, lit. "2007 April Fools' Summary"), also referred to as ??? (フランス兄さんからのありがたいお返事 Furansu nīsan kara no arigatai o henji?), is a site event that ran on April 1, 2007 in observance of April Fools' Day. The plot of the event follows France as he enacts his revenge on the other characters for being treated poorly in previous comics of the series, usually by striping them of their clothing. A sequel comic, The Festival after April Fools' Event (エイプリルフールあとの祭り Eipuriru fūru ato no matsuri?), shows the other characters punishing France for his actions.

Plot Summary

Main Storyline

France laments his general mistreatment in the series, especially compared to England, and decides to spend the day "dispelling [his] resentment". He captures the Italy brothers and takes a revealing commemorative photo, though he laments that Germany and Austria will inevitably come after him as a result. Sure enough, Austria shows up and scolds him, though France ends up capturing him as well and taking another compromising photo.

After waking up from a nap, France notes that he's recived a significant amount of fanmail and thanks everyone who sent something in. He reveals that England and Germany are both mad at him for what he did earlier but he brushes them off. Instead of stopping, he gets a look at Hungary's underwear and spies on Lithuania bathing, declaring that his new goal is to get revealing photos of England and Germany to complete the site jacking. However, he quickly reveals that going after Germany is difficult, and instead posts lurid photos of Spain, Sweden, and Finland. He recieves a letter from Turkey telling him not to do anything to Japan, but says that he's free to do what he wants with Greece. France states that he wanted to cover Greece in a "certain liquid" but was rejected so he didn't force the point, posting a photo of their exchange as proof.

France successfully manages to get a photograph of England working at a Naked Butler cafe, and wonders excitedly what he should do with Germany as simply touching his butt seems boring. In the end, he posts a picture of a miserable-looking Germany wearing a maid outfit with cat ears, and tells the readers he'll continue to answer as much fanmail as he can before the day ends. As the event comes to a close, he posts a picture of a naked Japan desperately covering himself from view.

The Festival after April Fools' Event

After the other nations successfully capture France and tie him up, they debate what a suitable punishment would be for his actions. Hungary suggests a public execution, but England points out that would be too boring and he would like something with more impact. France suggests Hungary sit in his lap and he's told to shut up. As they continue to discuss various forms of humilation such as being tied up and dressed in embarrassing cosplay, Italy excitedly says that all of those ideas would make France very happy. The others realize Italy is right and become dejected.

Sweden, who has remained silent up to this point, says that he has an idea and asks for everyone's cooperation. Later, a still-tied up France is shown energetically complimenting England and his culture. A cheerful England says he's glad France finally realizes his greatness, then becomes more sinister and asks France if he's like to be taught more. France becomes freaked out and continues complimenting England while begging to be spared. In the footnote, it's revealed that Sweden's idea of punishment is that, for a whole day, France will listen to everything England says, praise his culture, sing nothing but England's songs, and eat nothing but England's food.
